Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 11 August 2026
This document describes how the SMS Naija platform actually works today. It is provided for transparency and is not a substitute for independent legal advice — if you need a legal opinion on how this applies to your school or your use of the platform, please consult a qualified lawyer.
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of SMS Naija — the school directory and school management platform operated by Belad Creative Hub Ltd. ("SMS Naija", "we", "us") at smsnaija.com and its related applications. By creating an account, registering a school, enrolling in the Skill Hub, joining the Royal Marketer program, or otherwise using the platform, you agree to these Terms.
1. What SMS Naija is
SMS Naija is three things under one platform:
- A public directory of verified Nigerian secondary schools, searchable by state, LGA, curriculum, and school type.
- A school management system — admissions, fee/installment tracking, attendance, gradebook, bulk student/parent/teacher provisioning, and a Communication Hub — that a registered school's staff operate their school on.
- A Skill Hub of free video courses, and a Royal Marketer referral program through which independent marketers earn commission for onboarding schools.
2. Accounts and roles
The only self-service registration on SMS Naija is School Owner registration — either with a password, or via "Continue with Google." Every other account (Financial Admin, Admissions Admin, Teacher, Parent, Student) is created for a person by their school, individually or via bulk upload, and is tied to that school's records. If your account was provisioned by a school and you believe it was created in error, contact us at info@smsnaija.com.
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide and for keeping your login credentials confidential. Where two-factor authentication (2FA) is available — mandatory for Superadmin accounts — you are responsible for keeping your authenticator device secure.
3. School registration and subscriptions
- Registering a school requires a valid CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) number and accurate school details. Providing false registration or ownership information is a breach of these Terms and grounds for suspension.
- Schools subscribe to a plan (e.g. Starter) that determines available features and limits. Subscription fees, where applicable, are billed and processed through our payment partner, Paystack.
- Fee collection from parents/students that a school runs through the platform is processed via a Paystack subaccount tied to the school's own settlement bank account. SMS Naija retains an agreed revenue-share percentage of fees collected through the platform, disclosed to the school at onboarding.
- SMS credits (used for parent SMS notifications and admission letters) are a prepaid balance; if a school's SMS balance is exhausted, notifications fall back to email where possible.
4. Skill Hub
Skill Hub courses are free. Access to lessons and certificates is gated by eligibility requirements shown on each course (for example, holding an accepted role on the platform, completing onboarding, or a qualifying transaction). Certificates are issued for genuine course completion only and are not transferable.
5. Royal Marketer program
Marketers earn commission for onboarding schools that register using their referral code and go on to become active, paying customers. Commission structures, eligibility, and payout terms are as communicated at application and may be updated prospectively. Misrepresenting SMS Naija to prospective schools, self-referral, or fraudulent referrals will result in forfeiture of commission and account termination.
6. Acceptable use
Use of SMS Naija is also governed by our User Policy, which sets out account-security responsibilities and role-specific conduct rules in more detail. In summary, you may not: attempt to access data or accounts you are not authorized to view; upload false academic, attendance, or payment records; scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the platform; or use the Communication Hub or Skill Hub outside their intended purpose.
7. Intellectual property
The SMS Naija name, logo, platform design, and underlying software are the property of Belad Creative Hub Ltd. Content that a school or user uploads (school details, student records, blog contributions where invited) remains that party's property; by uploading it you grant SMS Naija a license to store, process, and display it as needed to operate the service for you.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, the User Policy, or applicable Nigerian law — including fraudulent CAC information, referral fraud, or unauthorized access attempts. A school owner may close their school's account at any time by contacting support; parent/student/teacher accounts are managed by their school.
9. Disclaimers and liability
SMS Naija is provided "as is." School listings and information are provided by schools themselves and by SMS Naija's team; while we take reasonable steps to verify schools, we do not guarantee the accuracy of every listing. To the extent permitted by Nigerian law, SMS Naija is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform, including payment processing or SMS delivery delays caused by third-party providers (Paystack, Termii, Resend, Google).
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from these Terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
